Summer Plans

Submitted by Katrina M Ernst on June 17, 2014 - 12:00am

We've had an unusually sunny spring here in Seattle, and we can only hope that is a good omen for the coming months. We're looking forward to enjoying some great theatre this summer season. Here's a look at what some of our students will be up to.

Zach Virden (PATP '16) will be playing Sebastian in Island Stage Left's production of Twelfth Night.

Julia Welch (MFA '15) will be the scenic design assistant to Matthew Smucker (MFA '02) on The Invisible Hand, opening at ACT in September; Scenic designer on The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, part of the Festival of New Musicals at the Village Theatre in August; and taking a  three week adventure to Europe -- London, Dublin, Paris, Florence, Rome -- to hit up museums, theatres, pubs, and see all there is to see!

Denny Le (BA '16) will be performing in Greenstage's production of Othello this summer, playing Montano/Ensemble.

Jared Roberts (MFA '15) will be assisting scenic designer Jennifer Zeyl (MFA '03) for the Intiman Theatre Festival's production of Angels in America. Parts 1 & 2 will run in rep. Jared will also be assisting in the engineering of the construction of the set and running the show backstage.

Elizabeth Coen (PhD candidate) is attending the Mellon School of Theater and Performance Research at Harvard University for their summer symposium. After that, she'll be leaving to study in Hamburg Germany for two months with the support of the Antoinette Wills Award and a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Simon Tran (BA '16) will be working at Olympia Family Theater as a summer intern; organizing and leading theatre summer camps for kids 7-10 years old.

Tré Cotten (PATP '16) is in Virginia working with the Virginia Shakespeare Festival for their summer season. Tré will be playing Orsino in their musical, Illyria, A Twelfth Night Musical and Marc Antony in their production of Julius Caesar. Following that he's off to North Carolina to perform in A Raisin in the Sun as Walter Lee Younger with True to You Productions

Anna Lamadrid (PATP '15) will be traveling to Santa Maria this summer to work at PCPA. Anna will play Ofelia in the world premiere of The San Patricios.
