PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Drawn from Tolstoy’s War and Peace, this energetic electropop opera follows young Natasha and world-weary Pierre through a whirlwind of romance, scandal, and self-discovery. With her fiancé away at war, Natasha arrives in Moscow and falls under the spell of the charismatic Anatole, while Pierre searches for meaning in his own unsettled life. Blending pop, folk, classical, and electronic music, Dave Malloy’s lush and electric musical brings these intersecting stories to life through an expansive ensemble, an opulent theatrical world, and a richly varied score.
