All School of Drama undergraduates (including non-majors/minors) are invited to the first of two info sessions about our winter quarter tri-production with Cornish College of the Arts and Seattle University, Uncharted Waters.
This production will include two shows: Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, directed by SU’s Rosa Joshi, and a new devised work co-directed by UW Drama alum Porscha Shaw and Cornish’s Sheila Daniels. The show will run March 4 – 13, 2021.
Both shows will be cast exclusively with undergraduates from all three schools. There will also be opportunities for undergraduates to participate off-stage. Both productions will be rehearsed and performed fully online.
Because this is a new way of working, with many new people involved, we will be holding two info sessions for the production. The purpose of these info sessions is to help you get acquainted with the project and the people involved, ask any questions you might have, and learn how best to prepare to audition or to get involved in another way. If you have any interest in participating in this production, we STRONGLY recommend attending an info session. Attending an info session does not commit you to participating in the production.
INFO SESSION #1: Tuesday, October 6, 5:30 PM – 6:20 PM
INFO SESSION #2: Thursday, October 8, 12:30 PM – 1:20 PM
Please check your email for the Zoom link, which was sent out Thursday, October 1 via the BA listserve. If you did not receive the email, please email Holly Arsenault at hollypla@uw.edu.

PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION:
This winter, the Cornish College of the Arts Theater and Performance Production Departments, Seattle University Theatre, and the University of Washington School of Drama will come together for a cross-town theatrical collaboration the likes of which Seattle has never seen. Seattle University’s Rosa Joshi (Bring Down the House, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, upstart crow collective) directs William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, while Cornish College of the Arts’ Sheila Daniels (Indecent, Seattle Rep; The Wolves, ACT Theatre) and UW Drama acting alum Porscha Shaw (Nina Simone: Four Women, Seattle Rep; Saint Joan, ArtsWest) co-direct a devised piece in response to themes in Shakespeare’s play. Both productions will feature student casts from all three schools, and the artistic and production work of students, faculty, and staff from all three schools, and both will be rehearsed and performed entirely online. We invite the community to join us as we meet the challenges of isolation with radical togetherness.
If you have any questions, please reach out to School of Drama Production Manager Ryan Gastelum at gastelum@uw.edu.
