Academic faculty in the arts at the University of Washington benefit greatly from their affiliation with a major research institution situated at the nucleus of the rich and vivid cultural environment of the Pacific Northwest. The research of our faculty takes place both on stage and backstage, in the design studio and in the rehearsal room, at the university and throughout the world, in collaborations and in solo endeavors, and in the pursuit of scholarly activities of historical, sociological, or theoretical significance. Our faculty are scholars, artists, educators, inventors, curators, and innovators. The work presented here represents some highlights of their research activities.
