Faculty & Staff Mailboxes

Mail for Staff and Faculty is sorted into mailboxes in HUT 101. Mail for Adjunct Faculty is sorted into mailboxes in the hallway leading to HUT 122 (production hallway). 

Graduate Student Mailboxes

Graduate student mailboxes are in the hallway leading to HUT 122 (production hallway). These can be accessed during Main Office Hours (M-F: 8:30am-12pm, 1pm-4:30pm).

Outgoing Mail

Mail is picked up and delivered once a day, at approximately 10:30 AM. Please bring outgoing mail to the front desk in the Main Office (HUT 101). If you have questions about sending a letter or package, either through the mail or by express carrier, visit please email the Front Desk, uwdrama@uw.edu, or visit the front desk during office hours (M-F, 8:30am-12pm, 1pm-4:30pm).  

Larger Packages

Larger packages delivered to Hutchinson Hall will be left on top of the mailboxes in the hallway leading to HUT 122 (production hallway). 
 
There is no standard pickup of UPS/FedEx packages in Hutchinson Hall.  The sender should drop the package in one of the campus UPS or FEDEX boxes (assuming they will fit). Otherwise, they should drive the package to the UPS or FEDEX store. 

UW NetID  

Your personal UW NetID (and its password) provides access to many UW online services including MyUW and UW Email. Your UW NetID verifies who you are, ensures the privacy of your personal information, and restricts the use of UW resources to authorized users. Shared UW NetIDs can be used by faculty and staff in the following ways:  as a contact point for a department, course or webpage, as a shared email for collaboration on a project, or as means to expedite academic or administrative work at the UW.

Temporary/Visitor accounts provide a provide a visitor or guest with access to UW’s wireless networks. Current faculty or staff can create a temporary account for their guests. 

Sponsored accounts are for individuals who are not otherwise eligible for a UW NetID and may be sponsored by any current UW faculty or staff member.

CAS-IT

IT support for the School of Drama is provided through the CAS-IT team. They are super helpful and responsive. Please contact cas-ithelp@uw.edu with any technology concerns.

Change in Personal Contact Information

To update your contact information, go to https://myuw.washington.edu and follow the link to the Employee Self Service pages.

Students also need to contact the registrar's office and inform them of any address changes. Classified staff, senior fellows and others who receive benefits need to email the benefits office (benefits@uw.edu) to alert them of the change.

Travel 

The University has specific procedures for the placing of travel reservations and parameters around reimbursement of expenses. The School of Drama administrative team is now booking travel reservations through Tangerine Travel. Please contact the Administrative Assistant to coordinate travel plans. 

Purchases

Purchases for the Department are handled by a variety of Staff members.  Please contact Front Desk (HUT 101) if you need something purchased on your behalf.  Do not purchase anything without prior ok from authorized Staff.  The Budget # to be charged must be OK’d by Administrator prior to purchase. 

Purchases of office supplies are batched to reduce paperwork. Please send email or call the front desk to request a specific item.

Drama Building and Classroom Access 

Building hours

Posted building hours for the Hutchinson Hall are:
Fall, Winter, Spring Quarter hours: M-F 8:00-6:00PM; Closed Sat & Sun
Summer Quarter hours: M-F – 8:00-4:00PM. Closed Sat & Sun.

Keys

Keys can be obtained through the Front Desk.  Typically keys are needed for Hutchinson Hall, Room 122 (mailboxes), and your personal office (if one is assigned). Reach out to the Administrative Assisa

CAAMs

The Hutchinson Hall and Penthouse Theatre front entrance as well as the majority of classrooms, student lounges and studios have doors installed with CAAMs readers. Faculty and Staff have 24/7 hour access to CAAMs installed doors. Tap your Husky Card on the CAAMs reader to gain entry. 

Room Entry Codes

HUT 150 and 303 require room entry codes. Please contact the Administrative Assistant if you need the code for these classrooms. 

Hutchinson Hall

Hutchinson Hall (HUT) is the primary building in which the School of Drama is located.  Faculty and Staff offices are spread out throughout Hutchinson Hall, as well as the Hughes Penthouse Theatre and the Scene Shop. 

Main Office and Front Desk

The Main Office is located in HUT 101, on the west end of the building. The Main Office and Front Desk are open M-F, 8:30am-12pm and 1:00pm-4:30pm. 

Please visit the front desk with any questions or help with the following items:

  • IT Check-Out: adapters, audio equipment, laptops, and video equipment are available for check-out at the front desk. 
  • Lost and Found items should be turned into the Front Desk.  All items are sent to Campus Lost & Found at end of each quarter.
  • Office supplies are located through the Main Office in the supply closet. A supply of basic office supplies including envelopes, pens, transparencies, folders, notebooks, etc are available for use by staff, faculty, and TAs. If you need supplies to be ordered or have questions on existing supplies, please visit the front desk or contact the Administrative Assistant.
  • Printing and copying: the copy machine located in the Main Office (HUT 101) is available for use by all SOD faculty and staff. You can also use this machine to print and scan. Please see the DramaIT Printer Information page for information on how to connect your device. 

Room Reservations

To reserve a room in Hutchinson Hall, Students and Faculty are required to fill out the Room Check-Out Request Form to check out a room if it is to be used outside of scheduled class time. Please review the policies and terms of use detailed on the form before making your request. 

Drama Library

The Drama Library collects books, journals, and media in all periods of drama from Greek drama to the present, with an emphasis on modern and contemporary drama. It is located in HUT 145 and is open M-F, 1pm-5pm. For more information, visit the Drama Library Website.

Bike Storage

Smoking Area

Smoking and Vaping is prohibited in all university facilities, including but not limited to the following locations:

  • inside all buildings owned or occupied by the university and/or used by the university's faculty, staff, or students;
  • University vehicles;
  • at any outside areas or locations, except those designated by the Director of EH&S or in WAC 478-136-035.

Visitors Information

The Visitor's Information Center offers information about the University, Seattle and the Puget Sound area. Travel brochures, lists of local events, and other information is available. The center is located at 4014 University Way NE, across from Schmitz Hall (8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday).

Employee Recreation 

The UW Intramural Activities (IMA) Building hosts a variety of recreational facilities (pools, racquetball courts, gymnasiums, weight training rooms, tennis courts). Use of these facilities is available to staff and faculty for a quarterly fee, see IMA membership information. For information regarding facilities and programs can be obtained at the IMA Building Website.

Federal and State Workplace Employee Rights Posters

Federal and State compliance posters are available at the University of Washington to ensure that you have an access to information about your rights under the law. In Hutchinson Hall, they are posted outside of the faculty and staff kitchen (HUT 122).

UW Human Resources and the UW Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action have partnered to improve the University's practices for the display of federal and state required poster, and have designated campus locations where all required compliance posters are physically displayed. Health And Safety 

Safeguard valuables 

Please keep in mind that Hutchinson Hall and other UW buildings are large, public buildings with open access hours. Thefts in public areas, classrooms, offices and theatres can and do occur at any time.

Extra precautions should be taken to safeguard personal valuables (purses, handbags, billfolds, laptops, etc.) Do not leave them lying around! The areas in which you are working should be locked when you leave, even if you leave for just a few minutes. Alternatively, lock your valuables in a drawer or file cabinet.

If you bring in a laptop, be sure to secure it with a lock.

On-the-job injuries

Any accident, injury, or work-related illness, or on-the-job incident which could have caused an injury or illness, must be reported to the employee's supervisor and the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S). This reporting ensures that comprehensive records are maintained, legal requirements are met, and corrective action is initiated to prevent future incidents.
All occurrences should be recorded by preparing and submitting EH&S's Online Accident Reporting System (OARS) form within 24 hours following the accident.

Complaint Resolution

The University of Washington encourages prompt resolution of complaints about the behavior of its employees, as referenced in UW Administrative Policy Statement (APS) 46.3. You may seek resolution assistance regarding behaviors that include but are not restricted to:

  • Harassing, discriminatory or threatening behavior,
  • Violation of University policy, or
  • Mistreatment of members of the public.
