We’re proud to celebrate Jean Smart (BFA,’74), alumna of the UW School of Drama’s Professional Actor Training Program, on her latest Primetime Emmy nomination for her role in HBO’s Hacks. As UW Magazine notes, Smart “keeps getting honored for her work as sharp-tongued comedian Deborah Vance in Hacks.”

A Seattle native and Ballard High School graduate, Smart has already earned six Emmy Awards, including three for Hacks. Her latest nomination adds to the show’s nine total nods this season and further cements her place as one of television’s most acclaimed performers.

We’re proud to celebrate Jean’s continued success and cheer her on as she heads to the Emmys this September.
