Biography

MFA, Acting, University of Washington, 2004
BA, Drama, University of Washington, 1997

Amy Kim Waschke is a classically trained actor based in Ashland, OR. She was most recently seen at the Geffen Playhouse in  their production of REVENGE SONG, a Vampire Cowboys Creation, where the LA Times called her performance “vibrantly dangerous” and credited her as “…the most striking figure in the production.”

Ms. Waschke received her MFA from the University of Washington, training under Jon Jory, Catherine Madden, and Steve Pearson.  After grad school she moved to New York where she worked regularly with the Vampire Cowboys, lead by playwright Qui Nguyen (VIETGONE) and director Robert Ross Parker (REVENGE SONG). Ms. Waschke was the lead in many of their raucously silly, occasionally raunchy, and always irreverent, comic book style comedies. In 2012, she met director, playwright and MacArthur Genius, Mary Zimmerman, and toured the US and China as the titular character in Zimmerman’s epic play THE WHITE SNAKE.

Ms. Waschke is also a proud company member of Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) where notable roles include Hermione in THE WINTER’S TALE, Emilia in OTHELLO and Lady Macbeth in MACBETH. OSF made it possible for her to work on a single character for over 100 performances in a season. It is this kind of long term character development Ms. Waschke enjoys the most. She dreams of becoming a regular on a successful series like KILLING EVE, THE WALKING DEAD or SUCCESSION. To develop a character over many years feels like worthy goal and gratifying way to spend a life.
