Biography

Professor in Scenic Design, received his MFA from Yale and has previously taught at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Mr. Lynch's designs for Broadway, Off-Broadway, international Opera, national tours, and London West End have most recently included the Metropolitan Opera's highly praised productions of Handel's Rodelinda with Renee Fleming and Gluck’s Iphigenie en Tauride with Placido Domingo in co-production with the Seattle Opera. His Broadway work includes the revival of A Raisin In The Sun, Wendy Wasserstein’s The Heidi Chronicles (Tony Nomination), The Music Man (Tony nomination), Susan Stroman's Contact,  Lincoln Center’s Ah, Wilderness!,  the dance musical Swing!,   and Tintypes. Recent premieres include Arthur Miller's last play Finishing The Picture and Edward Albee’s  Me, Myself & I. He is the scenic designer for the current production of  The Ring Cycle at Seattle Opera, for which he won an EDDY (Entertainment Design Award). He has produced over two hundred fifty designs in major American theatres, including Arena Stage, Goodman Theater, A.C.T. (San Francisco), The Intiman,  The Guthrie Theatre, American Repertory Theatre, The Mark Taper Forum, The Public Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, Second Stage, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The Seattle Rep, McCarter Theatre, Old Globe, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Playwright’s Horizons,  Steppenwolf Theatre and Yale Rep.
