Description:
Drama majors develop a unique range of knowledge and skills during their time at UW. Our students are strong collaborators, creative thinkers, imaginative problem solvers and goal oriented. This course teaches drama majors to articulate and present their academic experience to prospective employers, chart a career path, and frame their expertise in order to create opportunities.
Topics to be covered include: articulating your individual strengths, , how to talk about your unique drama skills in an interview, resumes and cover letters, marketing yourself (including on a web site), and the value of taking risks and exploring careers within and outside of the dramatic arts.
Course Objective:
To help students understand the value of their BA in Drama and articulate the unique set of skills developed here through personal narrative, interviews, networking, and career exploration.
Course Requirements:
Active participation is very important, since we’ll be working together in class a lot. If you are absent more than once, you will not receive credit for this course. Arriving on time is crucial as we will be hosting outside guests. Come prepared with questions for guest speakers and all in-class assignments ready. Assignments will be submitted online through Canvas, and sometimes in class. All assignments are due by 2:30pm on the date listed.
