On Monday, April 24th the Seattle Repertory Theatre is partnering with UW the School of Drama and Communications Department to organize a FREE discussion panel for the UW and greater Seattle community. This panel of Seattleites will discuss the past and present resistance movements led by youth, in part reflecting on connections to Seattle Repertory Theatre’s production of Here Lies Love (including the Marcos regime and the People Power Revolution). Join us at 7:30pmin Communications 120 (4109 E Stevens Way NE) to hear from some of Seattle scholars about the power of youth resistance. 
Co-moderated by School of Drama PhD candidate, Monica Cortes Viharo. 

PANELISTS: 

Third Andresen, PhD; Director, U.W. Philippines Study Abroad Program; Director, U.W. Northwest Hip Hop Archive/Collections; Faculty at Comparative History of Ideas and Honors Program

David Della, U.W. student activist during the 1970s; political leader and activist; former Seattle City Council member

Daniele Mempin Meñez, Current UW Student Body President, former Political Chair for the UW's Filipino American Student Association (FASA) and former Director of UW's Pacific Islander Student Commission (which oversees FASA).

Bea Rico, Strategic Planning Manager for the Port of Seattle, Inaugural President and current Board Member for the Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO) an international nonprofit organization in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs, past Vice President of the Filipino Young Professionals in Washington, D.C., Fellow at the World Affairs Council in Seattle.

Erika Justine Samson (co-moderator), Undergraduate Academic Adviser, University of Washington and Master of Education Candidate, University of Washington College of Education

Joaquin Uy, Campaigns Coordinator, BAYAN Pacific Northwest

Monica Cortes Viharo (co-moderator),  3rd year PhD student in the School of Drama at the University of Washington.  Her teaching and research interests include Theater History, Public Speaking/Communication as well as Documentary and Activist Theater.
