We are delighted to share a momentous achievement within our UW School of Drama community. Jesimiel Jenkins, a third-year graduate student in the Professional Actor Training Program (PATP), has been accepted into the esteemed BTC-BAA Fellowship program starting January 9.
The BTC-BAA Fellowship, a collaborative initiative between the Black Theatre Coalition (BTC) and Broadway Across America (BAA), was launched in 2022 to address the underrepresentation of Black-identifying professionals in commercial theater. In its third year, the Fellowship aims to hire 10 Black-identifying undergraduate juniors/seniors, graduate students, or recent college graduates for a unique 14-week program during the 2024 Spring Semester.
Jesimiel, along with the selected fellows, will be offered part-time, paid positions providing them with a unique opportunity to gain exposure and experience in the business of Broadway and theater administration. We are immensely proud of Jesimiel's accomplishment and recognition as part of this prestigious program.
Congratulations to Jesimiel Jenkins on this outstanding accomplishment, and we wish him continued success in his journey!
