Spotlighting New Faculty and Staff Appointments at UW Drama

Submitted by Hillary Long on February 3, 2025 - 2:50pm

We are excited to introduce several new faces to the University of Washington School of Drama community, including two faculty appointments.

Chi-wang Yang has joined the School of Drama as Assistant Professor of Acting starting in January 2025. A talented director and interdisciplinary artist, Chi-wang brings a unique approach to exploring the intersections of body, emotion, and technology in theater. His work has been featured at renowned venues such as REDCAT, SFMoMA, and the Edinburgh Fringe. "Chi-wang brings a spirit of inquiry that is at the heart of our program," says Jeffrey Fracé, Head of Acting Program. To learn more about Chi-wang Yang’s work, visit here.

M.L. Dogg, who joined the School of Drama as an Assistant Professor of Sound Design in 2023, received a Tony Award nomination for the 2023-2024 season for Best Sound Design of a Musical along with his co-designer Cody Spencer for their work on Here Lies Love on Broadway. MuTTT, as he prefers to be called, has designed numerous Broadway shows including The Pee-wee Herman Show and more recently, Gutenberg! The Musical! (also co-designed with Cody Spencer). Since joining the faculty, he has quickly taken to Seattle, designing shows for Seattle Rep, Intiman Theatre, and Swim Pony’s The Stupidest, Scariest Time, directed by UW faculty Adrienne Mackey. MuTTT will also be designing All Nighter Off-Broadway at MCC this month.

In addition, we are pleased to welcome several other talented individuals to our staff:

These appointments strengthen our faculty and staff, helping us continue to offer a dynamic, collaborative, and inclusive environment for our students and the theater community.
