A STORY OF WORK, ISOLATION, AND WHAT LIES BEYOND
Once upon a time, a group of people longed to be happy. Day after day, they moved through windowless rooms of conveyor belts, computers, and machines, following the relentless rhythm of the giant clock that governed their every moment. Their days were long, their labor was isolating, and their voices rarely met.
Until one day—it wasn’t.
In OMNIA Break Room, employees of a fictional mega-warehouse find themselves confronting both the monotony of work and the possibility of another kind of existence. Rooted in the Latin word for “everything,” OMNIA asks: What happens when a system built for efficiency begins to crack? What might we discover when we pause, connect, and reimagine the world around us?
A COLLABORATIVE NEW WORK
Created over three months in collaboration with UW students, OMNIA Break Room blends movement, text, and visual storytelling into a rich exploration of labor, connection, and possibility. “This piece emerged from asking big questions about how we work, how we live, and what it costs us,” says director Adrienne Mackey. “We wanted to imagine how people could resist sameness and find life beyond efficiency.”
