“I often think, what if one were to begin life over again, knowing what one is about! If one life, which has been already lived, were only a rough sketch so to speak, and the second were the fair copy! Then, I fancy, every one of us would feel compelled not to repeat himself, at the very least to rearrange his manner of life.”
In a room in a house in a provincial town, three sisters, Olga, Masha, and Irina, wait for their lives to begin. This is the deceptively simple premise of Chekhov’s tragicomic masterpiece, Three Sisters. UW Drama faculty member Jeffrey Fracé, an expert in devised performance who spent 10 years as an Associate Artist of Anne Bogart’s SITI company, brings us a spare reimagining of this sublime study of human longing.
RUN TIME: 2 hours 25 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission.
NOTICE: This production contains gunshots and coarse language.
PARKING NOTICE: If you are attending a weeknight performance, there is no longer ANY public parking permitted in the N4/N5 lots adjacent to the Hughes Penthouse, except for those with UW Disability Permits (which can be purchased at any gatehouse). Only UW permit holders and UW Disability Permit holders may park in those lots on weekdays. There is public parking available in the new N1 lot at the Burke Museum. To find the N1 lot, enter campus via the NE 45th St. entrance, and turn right after the gatehouse. It is approximately a 5-minute/0.3 mile walk from the N1 lot to the Hughes Penthouse. If the N1 lot is full, the closest public parking on campus is in the Central Garage, which can be accessed via 15th Ave NE. Below is a map showing the location of the N1 parking lot in relation to the Hughes Penthouse (circled in yellow). All UW lots are open to anyone Saturday after 12 PM and all day Sunday, unless in-lot signage indicates otherwise. During these non-restricted times, patrons requiring accessible parking should simply display their state-issued disability placard.
