Admission Requirements

All applicants must meet minimum Graduate School admissions requirements. International applicants must meet the minimum TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores outlined under Graduate School English Proficiency Requirements. Preference is given to applicants with MA/MFA degrees and theatre experience but those who hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university are eligible to apply.

Application Deadline: February 1, 2026

NOTE: Application materials submitted after this date may be reviewed but will not receive priority consideration.

Application Requirements

Please submit the following materials via the UW Graduate School application

  1. An essay or thesis chapter representative of the applicant's best scholarly work.
  2. A current CV (Curriculum Vitae) of training and experience in your field.
  3. A statement of purpose including educational and professional goals.
  4. Three letters of recommendation.
  5. One set of unofficial transcripts.
  6. Application fee $90
    Applicants may apply for a fee waiver through the Graduate school. 
    PLEASE NOTE: International students (students on an F or J visa are ineligible for a fee waiver.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test scores, while required in the past, are under review. They are not required for this year.
