Biography

Detra Payne is a lecturer in the Department of Theatre at Northwestern University. Prior to teach at Northwestern University, she was an assistant professor of instruction at the University of Texas, Arlington in the Theater Department. She is a founding member and a board member of the Los Angeles based theatre company Sacred Fools. She received her MFA at The New School of Drama and she received her BA in Drama at University of Washington.

Her recent theater credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Maverick Theatre Company), Some of These Days (Maverick Theater Company), Fabulations or the Re-education of Undine (MVC Theatre), and Miss Edna Lewis (Southern Food Alliance/MS). Her film and television credits include Forced Moved, Kudzo Killers, Imbroglio, S For Sally, 24, Moesha, and The Parkers.
