Additional Details:

The work of Constantin Stanislavski has had an immense influence on American actors, directors, playwrights, designers, and teachers since Stanislavksi’s visit to the United States with the Moscow Art Theater in 1923. In this class, we will look at what was so revolutionary about Stanislavksi’s approach to theatre in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; examine some significant American artists and theatre groups who dramatically changed the nature of theatre and film through their own explorations with the Stanislavksi system; and consider the place of his legacy in the twenty-first century.
