Drama 211 is an introduction to the artistic intentions and technical needs of costume design in the performance arts.  We will see professional shows and explore the thought processes and tools of the costume designer and costume technician.  This knowledge will enable the student to critically analyze the design of a performance.  This class will also give students who wish to pursue a life in the performing arts a starting place from which to plan the needs of clothing in a production.  Drama 211 is a prerequisite into the wonderful worlds of Costume Design (415), History of Western Dress (416).  The concepts and practical applications can also be used in a variety of other professions, wherever you have an opportunity to influence perception by what people wear.

Intensive lecture-laboratory in basic theories, techniques, and equipment of the stage. Costumes.
