Additional Details:

This undergraduate seminar explores the major plays of the world's most influential playwright. In ten weeks we cover a sampling of four genres, the comedies, histories, tragedies, and romances of Shakespeare; we examine the performance culture in which he wrote, as well as those adaptors of stage and screen of later periods who have turned to Shakespeare as the writer for all ages. At its core, the course invites us to understand the appeal that has allowed these period works to endure for over four hundred years.
